Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023

On April 4th, President Higgins signed into law the Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill 2022. This Act provides employees with four new rights, namely:

  • The right to request flexible working for caregiving purposes
  • The right to unpaid leave relating to medical care
  • The right to paid domestic violence leave, and
  • The right to request remote working

As the Act is newly signed into law, expect to hear more about its provisions as sections of the Act come into effect over the coming year.

New CRO Requirement – PPS Numbers

From April 23rd, 2023, all directors of Irish registered companies will be
required to input their PPS numbers on certain CRO forms i.e. A1s, B1s, B10s,
and B69s forms. This is for verification purposes to ensure that a company
director is alive and is a natural person.

What about directors who do not have PPS numbers?

Not all directors possess a PPS number, such as non-resident directors for example. In circumstances where directors do not possess a PPS number, they may use their RBO number instead. RBO refers to Register of Beneficial Owners. In situations where a director possesses neither a PPS or a RBO number, the director may obtain a form through the CRO CORE Portal to obtain a VIF number i.e. a verification of identity.
